While we practice social distancing to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, it is more important than ever to support local small businesses. However, it can be difficult to support small business without going out. So, here are some ways to support local small businesses while maintaining healthy social distance during the Coronavirus pandemic.
1. Shop small and local
While larger stores are doing the best they can, many items are out of stock. Luckily, many small businesses in our area can serve your needs safely! Allie’s Sweet Tooth will be baking bread, Natural Options of Grove City has eggs, and Lengel Brothers Farm and Market has fresh produce. Nonni’s Corner Trattoria offers make-at-home food like house made pastas, sauce and soups, and many other tasty foods to bring home. Many small businesses like these are more than happy to help in any way they can, and they will bring products directly to your car in order to minimize your contact with others.
2. Order online or delivery
The internet can be a wonderful way to stay in and still shop small! Be sure to check out online stores for your local businesses. Beef Jerky Outlet is currently running an online Stock Up & Save Event, where you can save 20% with code STOCKUP20 on their website! Ace Hardware offers delivery, as do many fantastic restaurants in our area, such as Coffaro’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, and Fox’s Pizza Den. Doordash is also a great way to support local restaurants like the Cinema Grille (which also offers online ordering). Third Eye Pies is even offering $5 off your first Doordash order! Grove City County Market offers grocery delivery through Instacart, which is a great way to get essentials without having to go out to the store. Many restaurants also offer take-out options, so you can enjoy your food in the comfort of your own home. Try Blackout Burger Bar, Primanti Bros., The Family Tradition, Main Street Diner, Voodoo Brewery, Hoss’s Steak & Sea House, Iron Bridge Inn, or one of the many other fantastic area restaurants! For dessert, order chocolate online from Shannon’s Kandy Kitchen!
3. Buy gift cards
Even if you don’t want to go out to your favorite spots, many businesses offer gift cards. Support your community now with your purchase of a gift card and use it when you would normally go out in the future! Many area restaurants, retailers, and shops offer gift cards. Get a Simon gift card online and use it at all the stores at the Grove City Premium Outlets! Wendell August Forge offers online gift cards which can be used in-store or on their online shop. Most restaurants offer gift cards, so stop in today and guarantee yourself a night out and a delicious meal later! Springfield Restaurant Group offers gift cards online which can be used at all their locations, including Rachel’s Roadhouse and Iron Bridge Inn, mailed right to your door! Many shops have gift cards and would greatly appreciate your business during this time.
4. Have businesses come to you
Many small businesses in our area are happy to come directly to your home to serve you. Aey Plus Flooring brings the showroom to you, so you can shop from the comfort of your home! Many other businesses would be happy to bring their business to you, so call and ask!
5. Be safe and sanitary
Above all, keep good hygiene practices in mind. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, disinfect high-traffic areas, avoid touching your face, cover coughs and sneezes, and stay home if you are sick. If you are looking for a deeper clean for an area, businesses like SERVPRO of Mercer County or Commercial Cleaning would be happy to help. If you want to get health supplies, businesses like Garda Rx, Rx Xpress, and Natural Options Grove City are happy to help. Above all, be kind and considerate to one another. Help older friends and neighbors get what they need if they do not feel safe going out. Together, our community can stay safe and healthy!
