On Thursdays we offer ways to give back in the community. For this week’s Give Back Thursday, we suggest Earth Day Change to benefit not just our local community, but our entire planet! Read on for more details!
For nearly a year now, these Thursday blog posts have been about ways to help out, give back and volunteer in our local community. That continues to be vitally important, but today is Earth Day so we are looking at a bigger picture. For the past 51 years, we have been celebrating Earth Day! Is this a special day you recognize? If you have not recognized it in the past, now is the time!
We have one planet to call home, Earth. With each passing year, we become more and more informed about the damage that has been done to our planet. Would you intentionally destroy your home? Probably not. Most everyone takes pride in their home and invests in its upkeep and appearance. If you would not throw garbage in your bed, on the floors of your home, or in your yard, why would you allow it to be thrown about in our world and in our waters? We must ask ourselves why we purposely use things that have a one-time use and then get thrown away. Instead, think about ways that you can repurpose these things or choose reusable options. For example, bring your own reusable water bottle to drink from and refill, rather than drinking from plastic and throwing it away.
There are so many changes each one of us can make to help our planet. That is why, for this week’s Give Back Thursday, we suggest Earth Day Change! If each one of us makes at least ONE change in our work or home lives, big or small, it will have an impact. In celebration of Earth Day, we ask everyone to make at least one change. Will you be inspired to make multiple changes? Perhaps! Once you see how easy a simple change can be, you might be ready for multiple changes. Happy Earth Day!
