Do you realize everything your own community has to do and offer? Most of the time, we take things in our area for granted and forget to take advantage of these opportunities. For this week’s What To Do Wednesday, we suggest Coffee and Art. Read on for the full plan!
A lot of times we look to other areas for sources of entertainment. People forget that there is plenty to do right in their own backyard, the community they live in! Grove City has lots of options for things to do. You just need to take a moment to look around and appreciate all there is. With the current pandemic, it is important to stay close to home and explore your local options, whenever possible. To help with that concept, we offer What To Do Wednesday suggestions, with this week focusing on coffee and art.
To fully enjoy this week’s offering, we suggest your first stop is at Beans on Broad, our Chamber Member coffee shop. They are located at 141 South Broad Street in Olde Town Grove City. Once there, you can choose whatever your favorite drink is, it doesn’t have to be coffee if you prefer something else like tea, chai, or juice. Whatever your personal favorite is, we suggest you tell the barista at Beans on Broad that yours is To Go! Why? So you can enjoy it during the next step of the plan while you stroll along! Want to plan ahead? Check out Beans on Broad’s website at http://www.beansonbroad.com to view their menu and hours of operation.
Your next stop is actually several stops. You will enjoy your Beans on Broad drink creation while doing an Olde Town Art Walk of your own! Olde Town Grove City is home to beautifully painted murals and unique sculptures pointing the way to our parking areas. All of the murals are located along South Broad Street. The parking sculptures are found not only on South Broad Street, but also in several nearby locations. These parking sculptures are extra special because they were created by the George Junior Republic here in Grove City in conjunction with Olde Town Grove City. Welding students at the George Junior Republic meticulously formed metal into works of art and beauty. If you have never stopped and admired them, now is the time. If you have admired them, now is the time to do so again.
As you walk along, sipping your drink and enjoying the beautiful art, also take time to appreciate the artists who made each piece possible. From the mural located on the back of PNC Bank created by an artist that grew up in Grove City, to the flowers in full bloom in the parking sculpture that greets visitors as they enter South Broad Street created by George Junior Republic students, we have art in the heart of Grove City because of these talented artists sharing their talent.
If you would like to map your route to make sure you find all of the murals and all of the parking sculptures, you are in luck! Walking maps of Olde Town Grove City were created by Visit Mercer County, PA and are available at both the Grove City Chamber office and the Olde Town Grove City office.
