Today’s Post: College Avenue in the Borough of Grove City was formerly known as Academy Street.
Answer: FACT! Just take a look at the Grove City map artwork from 1901 and you can see “Academy Street” instead of “College Avenue”. The name of Pine Grove Normal Academy was amended to Grove City College on December 7, 1887. It makes sense that the road was called Academy Street and eventually changed to College Avenue to reflect the changing of the name from Pine Grove Normal Academy to Grove City College, it just took a bit longer for that to occur!
