Today’s Post: Mercer County’s first plane crash occurred in Grove City at the Grove City June Festival.
Answer: FACT! On June 12, 1913, renowned pilot Lewis Earle Sandt crashed during a flight demonstration at the annual Grove City June Festival. An estimated crowd of 7,000 was assembled on the college athletic grounds to watch the exhibition flight. This occurred over 100 years ago this very weekend!
