Every Thursday we offer ideas of ways that people can give back to the community. There have been so many different ideas over the past few months! This week’s Give Back Thursday suggestion is A Note of Gratitude. Read on for more details.
The act of writing notes, especially thank you notes, is a lost art. These days, it doesn’t seem as important to most people to write a note of thanks expressing your gratitude. For those of us who were raised to write thank you notes for literally everything, we wonder how this tradition is starting to fade away. It only seems like the decent thing to do to tell someone you appreciate their efforts, their gift, or their time. It can take a moment to write but the impression it makes is far greater.
For this week’s Give Back Thursday suggestion, we are bringing back the idea of saying thanks with A Note of Gratitude. We specifically suggest to write a note of gratitude to your favorite nonprofit. Tell them why you love and appreciate them so much. You can hand write it and send it in the mail, or, if you prefer, you can choose to do this by email. Either method is acceptable and can still be personal because it is from you.
The past six months have been difficult for everyone. Some of our nonprofits have been working even harder than usual to make sure people’s needs are met, or as they try to figure out a new way of operating during these challenging times. Imagine how hard they are working and how often that hard work goes unnoticed. Until now.
Now is your chance to make a difference with little to no cost. Simply take a moment to write a note of gratitude to a nonprofit. Let them know you see their hard work, what a difference they make in our community and in the lives of others. This simple act will take you hardly any time to do. However, can you imagine the impact it could have on the person receiving this note? To have someone say ‘Thank You’ or ‘You Are Appreciated’ can make all the difference in someone’s day. Be that person. Make someone’s day and acknowledge them.
