Every Thursday we take a moment to offer ways people can give back in the community. This week’s Give Back Thursday suggestion is National Nurses Week. Read on for ideas you can use!
Nurses are vital to our medical community. They exhibit care and compassion for their patients. Nurses often work long, tiring shifts with much of that time spent on their feet. If you have ever been a patient in a hospital, who spent more time with you, the physician or a nurse? Nurses are usually the ones spending the most time with patients as they care for their needs, complete charts, give medications, and so much more. Nurses can be found in hospitals, doctor’s offices, nursing homes, schools, military and more. Their work is life-saving and often met with little gratitude.
For this week’s Give Back Thursday, we suggest National Nurses Week. From May 6th – 12th, National Nurses Week will be celebrated. We suggest that everyone takes the time to thank nurses! It should not just be their employers and co-workers recognizing them, it should be the entire community giving thanks. What can you do to show appreciation for nurses during National Nurses Week? How about sending flowers? Banners and signs are easy to make and could be hung in visible places. Sidewalk chalk can make an artist out of anyone and make saying thank you colorful! You could order lunch and have it delivered. Send snacks or fruit arrangements as a tasty way to say thanks. The possibilities are endless, but the need to show appreciation is great. Do your part and show appreciation for nurses during National Nurses Week and every day of the year!
