On Thursdays we offer ideas and way to give back to the community. For this week’s Give Back Thursday, we suggest Neighborly Help! Read on for more details!

Spring is in the air! An exciting time of watching new life spring forth from the ground and trees. As buds begin to form on trees and tiny little flowers poke up from a winter’s slumber, it feels like life renewed. However, it can be hard to see these new flowers, if ugly dead leaves are blocking them. For most of us, it is part of our Spring routine to go out and clean up the yard. To rid our flower beds of dead leaves that blew in during late Fall and Winter. No matter how many times you rid your yard of leaves, they always seem to find their way back. However, it can be harder for our elderly neighbors to get their yard cleaned up and ready for Spring and Summer.

For this week’s Give Back Thursday, we suggest Neighborly Help. If you have an elderly neighbor who might not be able to easily do Spring yard cleaning, might you be able to help? A few hours of lending a hand to a neighbor can make a big difference. You can make the difference between their yard getting cleaned up to enjoy, versus them struggling to get it done. As a bonus, not only are you helping your neighbor, but you also benefit! Instead of seeing a partially cleaned yard, your entire neighborhood can enjoy visibly cleaned yards and flower beds. Everyone can appreciate a good yard cleanup, so why not help someone get theirs done?

Part of a good community, is being a part of that community. Not just physically residing in a community, but literally being a part of that community. Giving back and helping others goes a long way to strengthening our community. We are all busy, we are all pulled in multiple directions. But, taking the time to help someone with a task like yard cleanup, helps both of you, as well as the entire community. If we contribute at least a little, our community looks better and everyone appreciates the community more.

We hope everyone takes a little time to participate with this week’s Give Back Thursday suggestion of Neighborly Help! Just think, someday you could be the person benefiting from someone else’s kindness. So, be that kind person for someone today!
