Give Back Thursday: Support Hopefield Children's Complex
Chamber- Give Back Thursday

Every Thursday we focus on ways people can give back to the community. We offer suggestions and ways to support existing nonprofits and programs or things people can physically do to provide a give back to the community approach. This week’s Give Back Thursday suggestion is to Support Hopefield Children’s Complex. Read on to find out more about this nonprofit, their future plans, and programs you can support today!

Hopefield is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps children who have special needs feel more included in their communities. They offer specialized programs that support families and help children learn important functional skills. They work to raise awareness of the challenges many of these children and families face each day, and they partner with the community to help them overcome these challenges. Hopefield’s mission is to enrich the lives of children with special needs and their families through innovative programs that promote inclusion, raise awareness and encourage community involvement.

At this time, Hopefield Children’s Complex utilizes space in the Grace United Methodist Church in Grove City, PA for programs and events. The plan for the future is to build a large, state of the art complex where all of Hopefield’s programs and services can be housed. Their goal is to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere where all children feel special, included and valued for who they are. They want families to feel relaxed and comfortable while making new friends and establishing a strong support system that will be there for them throughout their lives. They hope to carry this atmosphere of acceptance throughout the community by developing partnerships and relationships with local businesses and organizations.

Hopefield offers several different programs already, and hopes to expand those offerings. With the current COVID-19 pandemic and the safety guidelines and precautions, many of the face-to-face programs have had to temporarily be put on hold. However, Hopefield has two offerings that are able to continue without face-to-face interactions and would greatly benefit from community support. We suggest that you read about these two offerings and see how you can support them.

Pocketful of Hope Fund A fund dedicated to covering therapy and other expenses for children not covered by insurance.

Boxes of Hope Program A program designed to offer hope and encouragement to children and families in need. Boxes containing new or gently used clothing as well as developmentally appropriate toys, books, toiletries and/or games are being distributed to families in need following referrals from various agencies.

These two options are wonderful opportunities to get involved and give back to the community. Donations of any size are welcomed and appreciated to support these projects. You can specify your donation be used for one or the other, or you can direct that your donation be utilized for whatever need is greatest.

All children deserve to feel included and supported. It is hard to think about children needing therapy or other services to help with their development and well-being, but not having insurance to cover the associated costs. Their families may not be able to afford to cover this expense. Rather than see these needs unmet, Hopefield offers the Pocketful of Hope Fund to help cover these expenses. Every donation to this fund can help to make sure children receive the services they need. That is a donation that can truly make the difference in a child’s life.

Whether you choose to donate directly toward the Pocketful of Hope Fund or the Boxes of Hope Program, both fulfill a need in our community. If you are wondering if you can make a donation large enough to make a difference, know that every dollar matters. There is no gift too large or too small. Think about how you may feel led to support Hopefield. You could send an individual gift, or you could organize friends, family and neighbors to pledge together to make a larger donation.

Regardless of how you decide to give back, we truly hope you will keep Hopefield in mind. Every program that they offer, or plan to offer, keeps children with special needs, health concerns, and other disabilities, at the forefront of their focus. Whether it is Sensory Friendly Holidays, or a Life Skills Mentorship Program, Hopefield is keeping their focus on the children they serve. They truly believe all children deserve to be healthy and happy and feel included in their community. And, we couldn’t agree more!
