Give Back Thursday: Support Local Businesses

Chamber- Give Back Thursday- Uncategorized

Each Thursday, we have been making suggestions of ways that people can give back to the community. During these unusual times, it is more important than ever to reach out and support our local businesses. These businesses are the backbone of our community, they are owned by and employ our families, friends, and neighbors. They are usually the ones that are called upon to support our local youth sports teams, our fundraisers, and any other philanthropic needs we have as a community.

Now, it is our turn as a community to show our unwavering support for these businesses as many have been forced to temporarily close or completely shift how they normally do business. What can you do to help? Well, we have some great ideas that will show your support and offer a helping hand to these businesses that are so vital to our area.

To participate, think of at least ONE business you would like to show your support to, more would be great if you are able! Do all of the following ideas for every business you select:

Write a positive online review for the business.

Make a social media post to show your support of this business. Pictures are always great additions. Be sure to tag the business as well as our Chamber (@GCChamberPA) so that we can like and share your posts.

Purchase a gift card from this business now, to use at a later date. Or, set aside money to purchase one when you can to use later.

If you can, purchase an additional gift card(s) to gift to a friend or family member to let them know you are thinking of them!

Send a note to the business for their owner and employees to know they are supported. Our Chamber is happy to help with contact details if needed, just let us know!

If the business is currently open and operating, purchase goods from them now to show your support and boost their income.

If every person who reads this post picked one or more businesses and did all of the above ideas, our businesses would feel so loved! It may help them to be able to continue to operate and survive this current challenge. Let’s all join together and do what we can to support those who have supported our community for so long!
