Please provide a short description of your business and what you do.
Mars Bank is a full service community bank providing checking and savings, loans and mortgages and other financial products for individuals, families and businesses. The bank features online, mobile, and telephone remote banking options as well as 55,000 no fee ATM locations. The bank is relationship-focused and will help you with your needs through personal service.
What is the story behind your business or how it got started?
Mars Bank was founded in 1900 to provide individuals and businesses in Mars, Pa with financial services. The mission is the same with locations in northern Allegheny and Butler counties, and as of 2020, a location at 109 S. Broad Street in Grove City. We love the communities we serve and helping families and businesses reach their financial goals.
What is the service that you provide that customers use the most?
Currently, customers have two focuses: finding a safe and secure institution for their money in this challenging time and financing and refinancing loans and mortgages within the low rate environment.
When is your busiest time / season?
Banking happens all the time especially with online and mobile banking – customers can check balances, pay bills, transfer funds and deposit checks any time on almost any smart device.
What is something people would be surprised to know about your business?
Members of the founding families that started Mars Bank in 1900 are still involved with the bank.
Can you tell us about a memorable or favorite customer/client experience?
The bank is excited to be part of the Grove City community. Unfortunately, the pandemic has prevented the bank from being involved in live community and charitable events, but we’re looking forward to doing that (hopefully) very soon! As a community bank, being involved in the communities where we work, live and serve is very important to us!
How has your business responded to COVID-19?
Mars Bank has invested in the necessary safety and cleaning/disinfecting protocols using the guidelines of the CDC and the Pa. Department of Health. Our locations are open and the bank provided additional support for new users of remote banking services such as ATM banking, online and mobile app including mobile deposit, and telephone banking. Mars Bank developed assistance programs for individuals and commercial customers who were negatively impacted by the pandemic and also participated in the Paycheck Protection Program supporting businesses throughout the area. The bank also supported numerous emergency need drives with charities supporting the food and other immediate needs of our communities that resulted from the economic impact of the pandemic.
