On Tuesday, March 8th Armstrong will celebrate Breaking Bread Day at their local stores. Breaking Bread, a program created to help feed the hungry in communities Armstrong provides service is celebrating a dozen years of supporting local feeding programs. Armstrong originally launched the program to help feed neighbors in need on March 8, 2010.
The community is invited to be a part of the Breaking Bread Day celebration. All Armstrong community locations will be collecting non-perishable food items to help fight food insecurity. To find an Armstrong store near you, visit armstrongonewire.com/localoffice.
The Grove City Armstrong store is located at 123 Industrial Drive in Grove City and will be open on Tuesday, March 8th from 8:30AM to 5 PM. Customers are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food donations or donations of cash. All donations will be routed to area feeding programs. Donors will receive some special treats and gifts as a thank you for their donation (while supplies last).
In 2021, Armstrong customers and employees donated 42,292 pounds of food plus $26,838.33 in monetary donations and nearly 200 volunteer hours. These resources were provided to over 200 community feeding programs to help supply food to families who are experiencing food insecurity.
Hunger is a problem in all the communities that Armstrong serves, and the Breaking Bread initiative strives to help more than simply donating food. Armstrong is committed to fighting hunger through a four-pronged approach: Collecting donations of food, volunteering time, donating money, and raising awareness. Breaking Bread Day celebrates the efforts of Armstrong’s customers, employees, and surrounding communities to eliminate food insecurity; as well as bringing awareness to the ongoing need in our communities.
About Breaking Bread
The initial goal of the Breaking Bread program was to support local food programs and raise awareness about community food banks and soup kitchens. In 2018, Armstrong added Avenge Hunger Month during September to help in its awareness efforts for local food programs. Over the past four years, Armstrong has helped to collect more than 160,000 pounds of food and nearly $75,000 in monetary donations to help support local feeding programs through Avenge Hunger Month events.
Armstrong is proud to be active in the communities throughout the six states we serve, making Breaking Bread one of Armstrong’s most important community services. For a list of community food programs in your area, visit armstrongonewire.com/breakingbread.
