For this week’s What To Do Wednesday suggestion, we are going to be a little self-promoting. The Grove City Chamber has a very special event coming up, and we want to make sure everyone knows about it. For this week’s What To Do Wednesday, we suggest Drive-In & Dine Out.
When was the last time you attended a drive-in movie? Maybe it wasn’t that long ago, or maybe it has been years. Grove City used to have it’s own drive-in theater, but that has been gone for quite a while. There is something about seeing a movie while enjoying the outdoors. Given the current pandemic, a drive-in movie offers the option for entertainment while staying at a safe distance from others. With this in mind, we offer you the following treat!
Grove City Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to present Drive-In & Dine Out on Saturday, September 19th at GCHS Practice Field (via Stowe Street)! This event is sponsored by Armstrong and Image FX!
Drive-In & Dine Out Details
Arrive at 7 PM to pay admission ($10 ages 13+, $5 ages 3-12, FREE ages 2 and under), get your boxed meal, and be directed to your parking spot. Enjoy dinner provided by local restaurants. Each attendee will receive a boxed meal at admission.
Boxed meals will contain the following (subject to change): pulled pork sandwich from Blackout Burger Bar, nachos from Independent Taco, baked beans from County Market’s Cafe, and for dessert there will be baklava from bakluva/Main Street Diner, Munchkins from Dunkin’ Donuts, and chocolate sampling from Shannon’s Kandy Kitchen. Fox’s Pizza Den is providing plastic wrapped silverware and napkins.
A special “tip jar” will be available for anyone wishing to provide a little something to thank our participating restaurants. Our restaurants have all had a difficult time the past few months, so lets show them some love!
At dusk (approximately 8 PM) the movie, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, starring Tom Hanks as beloved Pittsburgh native and everyone’s favorite neighbor, Mister Fred Rogers, will begin. It will last 109 minutes. Water, pop, and freshly popped popcorn will be available for sale throughout the event. Attendees can watch the movie from their vehicle. Or, they may bring lawn chairs and sit in front of their vehicles.
Safety Measures we are Taking
This event is limited to 250 people to meet safety guidelines. Masks are required for common areas and restrooms. They are also required for any time you cannot be at least 6-feet away from those not within your household. Advanced tickets will not be sold. This is in case safety guidelines change and the event is not able to be held as planned.
We hope you will consider enjoying this week’s What To Do Wednesday: Drive-In & Dine Out! The event is limited to 250 people. But, we want to make sure everyone is aware it is coming up and we can sell out! Our community deserves something special to do. We are pleased to be able to offer this safe, family-friendly, and affordable event!
