Today’s Post: Grove City, PA is the birthplace of a Major League Baseball player and American League Rookie of the Year (1963) who is widely seen as one of the best-hitting pitchers of the 1960s while playing for the Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox.
Answer: FACT! Gary Peters was born April 21, 1937 in Grove City, PA and is an American former professional baseball player. He was a Major League Baseball pitcher who played on two major teams for 14 seasons. Chicago White Sox (1959 – 1969) and Boston Red Sox (1970 – 1972). He was a two time All-Star (1964, 1967), American League Rookie of the Year (1963), American League wins leader (1964) and two times American League ERA leader (1963, 1966). He batted left and threw left. Also of note is that he attended Grove City College! (These facts were taken from his Wikipedia page and mlb.com).
