In 1968, the four newspapers, the Grove City Reporter-Herald, the Mercer Dispatch, the Slippery Rock Signal, and the Lakeview Breeze were merged to form the Allied Newspapers. Allied Newspapers began publishing the Allied News. Allied Newspapers, Inc. was incorporated on August 9, 1965. In 1971, the Allied News (as well as the (Sharon) Herald) was purchased by Ottaway Newspapers, Inc. The name Allied Newspapers was registered on May 5, 1976 by Ottaway Newspapers, Inc. (Corporate changes were made in 1973.)
