Every Thursday we offer a way to give back in the community. For this week’s Give Back Thursday, we suggest the Food For Kids (FFK) Backpack Program! Read on for details.
If you have ever been hungry, you know it can be hard to concentrate and get things done. Typically, we can tell we need to eat because our bodies let us know it is time. The hungrier you get, the less focus you have. The term “hangry” has started to be used when our emotions are affected by hunger. Usually, we are able to go and get something to eat which results in a return to normalcy. But, what if you did not have access to enough food?
There are children in our school district who may not have enough to eat.
Due to family financial issues, or worse, a lack of anyone providing for them, some kids may be going hungry. With this in mind, the Food For Kids Backpack Program was created to serve the Grove City Area School District. Under the Grove City Area United Way, the Food For Kids Backpack Program provides bags of food for kids in need on the weekends. The small bags contain easy to prepare and nutritious food staples. No child should have to worry from Friday to Monday about what they will eat. This program provides bags of food for kids that are discreetly given to them before they go home for the weekend.
For this week’s Give Back Thursday, we suggest supporting the Food For Kids (FFK) Backpack Program with a donation. Large or small, your donation will help feed kids in need. Donations can be made out to GCAUW with Food For Kids in the memo line. They can be mailed to PO Box 388, Grove City, PA 16127. Donations are tax deductible. When designated for Food For Kids Backpack Program, every dollar goes directly to feeding kids in the Grove City Area School District.
