On Thursdays, we offer ways people can give back in the community. For this week’s Give Back Thursday suggestion, we offer supporting the Free Little Library. Read on for more details.
People have a love for books. Books can offer an escape from reality, an adventure, or the chance to experience life from someone else’s perspective. From the time we are small, books have importance. For many, it is a nightly ritual to read to their children. Many of us can clearly remember times gathered around books as they were read aloud. The voice of the reader would bring the characters to life. Pictures could reinforce the story and be fascinating to take in. As we grow older, it becomes a solo journey as we begin to read on our own. Books become thicker and stories become more complex. For many, it continues to be a favorite pastime. What are some of your favorite books?
For this week’s Give Back Thursday, we suggest supporting the Free Little Library.
Did you know that Grove City has its very own Free Little Library? If you are not familiar, a Free Little Library is a little container, often house shaped, that stores books. It is usually located centrally in a community with easy access. Anyone and everyone is invited to visit the Free Little Library and borrow any books from inside. Visitors to the Free Little Library are encouraged to place a book inside for someone else to enjoy. Acting as a free exchange of gently used and loved books, Free Little Libraries have been popping up all across the country. Have you seen the Free Little Library in Grove City? It is located right outside of the former Nonni’s Corner Trattoria. Even though Nonni’s is now closed, the Free Little Library continues to stand and is filled with offerings of books for all ages.
If you have a book or books that you are willing to give to the Free Little Library, stop by and leave them! You can open the little door and leave your book or books inside. Be sure to look at the other books available. There may be a title just calling your name and waiting for you to read it! The Free Little Library operates as a free exchange of gently used books. Think about how you can support our Free Little Library and share the love of books!
