Every Wednesday we offer suggestions of things to do in the area. They are called What To Do Wednesday, but these ideas can be done whenever they work best for you. For this week’s What To Do Wednesday, we suggest Swimming & Snacks. Read on for more details!
Summer days are often hot days. There is nothing more refreshing on a hot Summer day, than jumping into cool, refreshing water. A swimming pool is usually the best answer to this heat dilemma. Many of us do not own our own swimming pool and may, or may not, know anyone who does. Rather than sit in a kiddie pool in your backyard trying to cool down, we offer a better solution!
Grove City is home to Memorial Park, a beautiful oasis of lush green grass, picnic shelters, playgrounds, and much more. One of those items in the “much more” category, is the Memorial Park Pool! This beautifully maintained swimming pool is open and calling your name….can you hear it? It is beckoning for you to come and enjoy!
Opening Day for 2020 for the Memorial Park Pool was June 19th. This was delayed from the usual Memorial Day due to the pandemic. But, this pandemic delay also means you get discounted pricing due to the shortened pool season! The Memorial Park Pool will remain open until Sunday, August 23, 2020. That means you have almost an entire month to still enjoy swimming! The Memorial Park Pool is open Monday thru Sunday, from 1:00 – 6:00 PM (weather permitting). Daily admission is $3 for those swimming, and those observing visitors or childcare providers. Children under the age of 2 are FREE, as are seniors age 65 and older. Family Season Passes are available for $65 to ensure maximum pool time. However, no refunds are issued. In the event of bad weather a rain check will be issued. That just means another day of fun!
For 2020, the concession stand at the Memorial Park Pool will remain closed for the season. Due to this, you are welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks. But, be considerate and clean up after yourselves. Don’t leave behind any garbage.
We can offer the perfect solution for bringing your own snacks to the pool! Before you arrive at Memorial Park, make a stop, Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 4:15 PM, at the George J. Howe Company’s Retail Store! Located at 629 W. Main Street, Grove City, PA, this store has everything from trail mixes, to nuts, to candy galore! You can find nostalgic candy to remind you of your childhood days. Or, you can find your favorite or soon-to-be favorite candy just waiting for you to scoop it up and buy it! The biggest decision is what to buy. The next biggest decision….how many pounds of each to buy? You can decide if you want a little in your bag, or if you want multiple pounds. The choice is yours, but everything you choose will always be the freshest it can be!
Nuts offer protein, which can help with your swimming stamina. Trail mixes are a good mix of nuts and fruits and will help with your energy levels. Candy. Well, it will satisfy your sweet tooth and the inner-child in you will be happy! We suggest getting some of each to make sure you cover all your bases. While you’re there, you should also pick up some of Here’s Howe’s coffee! You could make iced coffees to cap off your perfect summer refreshment before and after swimming!
We hope you will take us up on this week’s What To Do Wednesday suggestion of Swimming & Snacks. It is hard to say which will be more fun, the candy store or the swimming pool! Either way, you are in for a treat. Or, should we say two treats! Just remember, if you choose candy necklaces, take them off before jumping into the pool!
