We want everyone to get to know our Chamber Members better! Today’s Member Feature is Grove City Hockey. Here is a Q&A with them:
- Please provide a short description of your business and what you do.
- Grove City Hockey is a multi-functional sports entertainment company that tries to grow the game of hockey locally, domestically, and internationally. We strive to reach this goal by broadcasting hockey, teaching youth, providing adult leagues, and tournaments to help raise money for the community. We also provide services like videography, photography, game operations, and advertising opportunities for businesses that wish to reach local families or reach an audience outside of the greater Western PA area like Ohio, New York, Indiana and Michigan. Our broadcasts have even had viewers from Australia, Great Britain, and Germany.
- What is the story behind your business?
- Grove City Hockey came about with the idea from Jake Drozynski to help provide entertainment to the city by reaching out to Sean Takakjy in 2019. Original discussions talked about coaching youth in the area and the possibility of creating a rink in the area. The dream became real during the 2020 global pandemic by broadcasting youth hockey in Pittsburgh to allow families to support their loved ones. Both brought experience from the Youngstown Phantoms Hockey organization and other sports institutions. The company began to take off by adding Mathew Flannery and continued to travel across the country to broadcast inline hockey in areas like Detroit, Indianapolis, and Buffalo. Since then we added Collin Corbett to help run adult league programs and establish the legitimacy of the company to where we increase the game by our four pillars.
- Give us a Fun Fact about your business
- All three of the owners work multiple jobs and have created an office in their house to help continue to work while at home. We also recently did an interview with the Youtube Star Nasher, who has worked with hockey players like Auston Matthews and Paul Bissonnette.
- Tell us about a memorable or favorite client experience.
- We have worked with Grove City College to help raise funds for Aware Inc. of Mercer County to raise over $900 dollars for shelter repairs while providing real-world experience with Grove City College Students. It was held on Saturday December 4th of 2021 and because of the result, we will be continuing to work with Aware and Grove City College on an annual basis.
- How can the community support you now and going forward?
- The community can help by parents getting their kids involved in the great game of hockey with our youth programs. We work with other businesses to provide them with advertising opportunities and help us offer the broadcast for free for the domestic hockey community. We also do fundraising for local non-profits and sponsorships help show off their business while supporting those in need through our charity tournaments. We are also always looking for volunteers who are interested in traveling and being able to watch hockey!
- Anything else?
- We are in the process of creating a website to make our customer experience easier to navigate that will offer our broadcasts, information on youth programs, and merchandise/pictures available for instant purchase. Follow us on our social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Youtube!
