What To Do Wednesday: Church Architecture & Sundaes
Chamber- Uncategorized- What To Do Wednesday

It is Wednesday, and that means it is time for another weekly suggestion of something to do in the area. These suggestions do not have to be done on Wednesdays, they can be done whenever works for your schedule. For this week we offer What To Do Wednesday: Church Architecture & Sundaes. Want to know more? Read on for more details!

In early settlements, one of the first things built was a church. Often, these church buildings also served as the school house and meeting place. These buildings were an integral part of starting a community. Today, it is not unusual to see multiple churches in each town. Grove City is certainly an example of a community with multiple churches. But, have you ever stopped and looked at the architecture of each of the church buildings?

Today’s What To Do Wednesday Plan!

We have several church buildings representing different denominations. Every building offers a unique style with their architecture. Some of the buildings are older than others, some have had different tenants over the years. But, each building has beauty that needs to be appreciated. To fully appreciate the architecture of each, we suggest going on a driving tour of the church buildings in the community.

Take a moment and look at each one. How do you think the original designers and builders came to the decision of how each would look? Do you have a favorite that catches your eye every time you pass by? Or, maybe you’ve wondered what inspired the design of one? Take time to appreciate the beauty of these buildings. Maybe they feature stained glass, or maybe they have a different intricacy you have never even noticed. A great feature of this tour is that you don’t even have to leave your vehicle, you can sit and admire each one.

After your driving tour of the church buildings in our community, we think you should have a sweet treat. Because churches remind us of Sundays, and because sundaes sound the same, we think this is reason enough for an ice cream sundae! You might choose to make your own with ingredients purchased from County Market, or you might choose to go out for a sundae. We have several restaurants that are members of our Chamber. Some, like Main Street Diner, have a specialty sundae they can make for you. Main Street Diner has a sundae that features their delicious homemade baklava. Others will offer the more traditional take on a sundae. Which will you choose for your tasty treat?

We hope you will take advantage of this week’s What To Do Wednesday: Church Architecture & Sundaes. It offers an idea of something to do that will help everyone appreciate the beautiful buildings we have right here in our own community. And, you get an ooey-gooey treat afterwards!
