What To Do Wednesday: Fresh Fruits & Veggies
Chamber- Uncategorized- What To Do Wednesday

Every Wednesday we like to offer a suggestion of something to do in our local area. These ideas don’t have to be done on Wednesdays, nor do they have to be done the week we suggest them. Just take the suggestion and have fun with it, when it works for you. This week’s What To Do Wednesday involves Fresh Fruits & Veggies. Read on for the full plan!

Ever since you were a little kid, you have probably heard over and over that you need to eat your fruits and vegetables! Rich in vitamins and nutrients, fruits and vegetables are an important part of our diet. How often do you plan fruits and vegetables into your meals? Hopefully it is on a regular basis. However, these fruits and vegetables might not always be in season and available locally.

This week, we suggest that you plan some meals based around the use of fresh fruits and vegetables. You can plan meals you have enjoyed before, or you can find new recipes to try. Just make sure the recipes call for fresh fruits and vegetables. Make your list of what you need to find in order to make all of your recipes.

Here comes the fun part!

Make a plan to visit the Olde Town Grove City Farmers’ Market on Thursdays, June through October, 3-6 PM, in the Joseph D. Monteleone Youth Festival Park on S. Broad Street. For those unfamiliar, this is the parking lot downtown with the gazebo in it. The parking lot is closed off and turned into a Farmers’ Market every Thursday. You can stroll through and visit all of the different vendors. There will be all kinds of seasonal, locally grown, fresh fruits and veggies available for sale. Get your list out and buy what you need to make your selected recipes. If you can’t find everything you need, don’t fret! Who knows, you might just become inspired on the spot to change directions and make a different recipe!

We hope you have fun with this week’s What To Do Wednesday suggestion and take advantage of this weekly source of locally grown Fresh Fruits & Veggies sometime before the end of October. Farmers’ Markets are a fun way to visit with different vendors/farmers and learn more about them and where your food is coming from.
