Give Back Thursday: Donate Your Gently Used Items

Give Back Thursday: Donate Your Gently Used Items
Chamber- Give Back Thursday

Each week we offer suggestions of how to support the community and help others. For this week’s Give Back Thursday, we suggest you donate your gently used items to benefit the community. Read on for more details.

Do you have things you have not used in six months to a year, or longer? Do you have clothes that you no longer wear, no longer fit, or just are not your style any longer? If so, you should consider taking some time to pull these items out from their hiding places like the basement, attic, closet, or wherever they may be, and sorting them for donation. Why keep things that you no longer enjoy, use or no longer fit? These things are just taking up space in your home. Now is the time to clean them out and make room for things you do enjoy, want or need.

If the things you clean out are gently used and still in good shape, why not gather them up to donate? Allow someone else the opportunity to find joy in them! You could go to the trouble and work of having a yard sale, but by donating them, you could actually benefit the community far more. Did you know we have some really great places in Grove City to donate your gently used items, and they benefit the community?

We have two Chamber Members who will gladly accept your gently used donations and use them for a bigger purpose. All Good Things and Thrifty Threads both accept donations of items and clothing which are then sold in their shops and the money goes directly back into the community to help others. Here is a little more about each of these Members.

All Good Things is located at 1103 W. Main Street in Grove City. All profits from the sale of items and clothing in their shop are given back to the community through donations to nonprofits, service organizations, and first responders. They have given back over $400,000 to our community!

Thrifty Threads is located at 114 S Center Street in Grove City. They are located right beside the Grove City Community Food Pantry. All profits from the sale of items and clothing in their shop are given back to the community through the direct support of the Grove City Community Food Pantry. By operating Thrifty Threads, the Grove City Community Food Pantry can maintain their location which is convenient for clients to access, and they can provide much needed food and support of those in need.

So, as you look around your space and take note of things that no longer bring you joy, no longer fit, or just aren’t your thing, realize that they could do far more good being donated than they can do just sitting around your house taking up space. They can generate profits that are turned into funds that directly impact our community. Just think, your gently used items can be donated, bought by someone else, bring them joy, and also benefit people in need and those serving the community as nonprofits, service organizations and first responders.

We hope you choose to Give Back this Thursday and donate your gently used items to benefit the community! Please call or check social media for days and times for accepting donations before you deliver to make sure they are open and someone is able to assist you.
