Please provide a short description of your business and what you do.
Ford Business Machines is western Pennsylvania’s largest independent full-line authorized dealer of Canon, Konica Minolta and Lanier (Ricoh) products for copier, printer, and multi-function product (MFP) technology. We also offer an array of office technology solutions such as document management, IT services and managed print services that will help companies decrease costs and increase efficiency.
What is the story behind your business or how it got started?
Ford Business Machines was founded in 1991 by John Garlow, who’s desire it was to establish his business with the primary focus being unprecedented customer service and relationships founded in trust and loyalty. He named his company after his grandfather who instilled in him persistence, sustained effort, and a need for accomplishing what he set out to do. Ford’s trusted reputation in the area allowed him to take his small business from his house to our current main headquarters in Connellsville, and in recent years, the opportunity to expand to Pittsburgh and Hermitage. In February of 2018, John Garlow passed away, but his family legacy and ultimate mission will forever live on through his sons Johnathan, President & CEO, and Justin, Director of Business Development, as well as his nephew Josh Gerson, Vice President of Operations.
What is the service that you provide that customers use the most?
Copiers, printers, and multi-function products.
When is your busiest time / season?
We are a business-to-business company which means our business is not impacted seasonally.
What is something people would be surprised to know about your business?
That we are a full-service office technology company that provides managed IT services, VoIP phone systems, document management services, and touch screen technology, as well as the copiers and printers that we are traditionally known for.
Can you tell us about a memorable or favorite customer experience?
Our mission is to provide all of our customers with unparalleled experiences. Exceeding their expectations and creating a new, loyal, and long-term customer is always rewarding and memorable.
How has COVID-19 affected your business?
Our business was deemed essential from the onset, so we have been minimally impacted by COVID-19.
How can the community support you now and going forward?
Community support is essential to all small businesses. As a B2B company, we prioritize our support of other local small businesses and appreciate those that return the favor.
Is there anything else you’d like us to talk about?
We are continuing to grow by expanding our reach and service capabilities, as well as our solution offerings. Our vision for the near future is to provide all of western Pennsylvania a complete array of office technology solutions combined with unparalleled experiences that lead to a working relationship built on trust.
