Please provide a short description of your organization and what you do.
The PA CareerLink® Mercer County is your one-stop for employment and training. As a collaborative partnership, Partners provide career services to Pennsylvania employers, and job seekers alike. Partner services include and not limited to: Job searching/Job matching, Career Services, Veterans Programs, GED, Apprenticeship Programs, and Youth/Adult/ and Dislocated Worker Programs. Staff are available to assist our County’s employers with job postings and screening of applicants. Job seekers are invited to utilize our Career Resource Center to enroll on the PA CareerLink® website, register for a PA Unemployment claim, file bi-weekly claims and faxing.
What is the story behind your organization or how it got started?
If you or someone you know is looking for a job, the first stop to make is at one of the PA CareerLink® in your area. The PA CareerLink® are a one-stop job center designed to meet all of your employment needs.
The PA CareerLink is a “One-Stop” center as mandated by the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 to serve as a collective partnership for employers and job seekers alike.
What is the service that you provide that clients use the most?
Our Center provides career guidance to support the needs of our County’s job seekers. Job seekers have access to professional staff and convenient access to a wide range of employment and training resources through a single location, and, when possible, through Community Provider referrals. By integrating the resources of collaborating Partner and Provider agencies, the PA CareerLink® delivers an enhanced level of service with fewer hassles.
What is something people would be surprised to know about your organization?
Our enhanced PA CareerLink® website is aimed at serving your specific needs in an accessible approach that helps you find the information and resources you need based on where you are personally, professionally and by location. Job seekers can access employment and training opportunities throughout the Commonwealth by just a click!
Can you tell us about a memorable or favorite customer/client experience?
Knowing that we are a one-stop for our County’s job seekers and employers!
How has your organization responded to COVID-19? Or, how has COVID-19 affected your organization?
The PA CareerLink® Mercer County remains open to serve those who need us the most during this most difficult time. Visitors are asked to wear face masks, and to call for an appointment to meet with a staff member 1:1 in a clean sanitized meeting room. Employers are looking and wanting to hire all skill levels- in healthcare, manufacturing, customer service and more! On-the-Job Training, Paid Work Experience is available to Adults, Displaced Workers and Older Youth with area businesses.
